Your Perfect Pokémon Tales: Z-A Mega Evolution According to the Astrological Sign
The return of Mega Evolutions in Pokémon Legends: Z-A has ignited widespread excitement across the fandom. Starting with the gradual unveiling of newcomers before the title's release, to players developing strong opinions on the entire roster of new Megas, there's a lot for fans to anticipate.
With many of the Super Forms showcasing distinctive appearances that emphasize their traits, one thought came to mind: How can connect this with zodiac signs? The following is based on a mix of intuition, common zodiac traits, and individual observations.
The Ram – Super Camerupt
To be truthful, Houndoom was nearly selected for this fire sign, as they are the Mega Pokémon and zodiac symbol that inspire the most fear. But, a Super Houndoom comes across as always angry, which isn't typical of the Aries vibe, renowned for being fun, light-hearted, and impulsive. This makes Aries much more similar to Mega Camerupt, which solely spews lava when provoked. Stay on the good side of both and enjoy a powerful partner; should you offend them, prepare to get burned.
Taurus – Super Heracross
Much like a devoted Bull, the steadfast Heracross species, whether in its standard and Mega form, has aided numerous players in Legends: Z-A. Though trustworthy, both the creature and a Taurus are also Fighting types, and – be it their companion or a firm belief – will defend their position unwaveringly. What about Super Heracross that recalls most of my Taurus friends, though, is its unashamed love of treats. Several previous official descriptions note their fondness for sweet tree sap and how it uses its horn to collect it all, which is pure Bull-sign vibe.
The Twins – Mega Medicham
Look at this total royalty. You cannot convince me this creature is not the soul of every party, providing an endless stream of gossip to those who wants to hear. Just like an enrapturing, gregarious Twins, it's very easy to envision Super Medicham captivating an whole Wild Zone with their stories. This Pokémon's Pokédex entry also states its ability to predict an enemy’s future actions, which seems very similar to a socially-savvy Twins.
Cancer – Mega Manectric
Cancer is widely considered as the most emotional sign of the zodiac, a intense symbol famous for often becoming wrapped up in their feelings. Per the official info, Mega Evolution fills the Pokémon with a “huge quantity of electricity, but it's too much for Manectric to completely control,” which seems a lot like a classic Crab crash-out. This Pokémon is also recognized for its ability to make a thundercloud over its very head – and if there’s a single trait a Cancer is likely to do, it’s spoil their good time.
Leo – Mega Starmie
Oh, did you assume I was planning to pick the lion Pokémon for the king of the stars? Besides the fact that it would be far too on the nose, The Lion is obviously Super Starmie, the star whose legs just became an internet sensation for being too glamorous (or horrifying, based on your taste). Fans couldn’t look away from the purple sea star, and that’s exactly the same vibe a Lion offers to the table. This Pokémon is also rumored to be transmitting signals from its red core out into the cosmos, and it’s just like a Leo to be staging a performance, albeit for aliens.
The Maiden – Super Victreebel
The ever-prepared and constantly-worried Maiden is perfectly represented in Mega Victreebel, the Super Form with perpetual digestive issues. The sign known for being charmingly judgmental is strongly mirrored across this creature's whole evolutionary chain, from a perpetually surprised face like a Virgo when you tell them you don’t have a retirement plan, to its inverted visage that’s just like the emoji a Maiden posts to the chatroom when all says they want to “be spontaneous” instead of making a plan.
Libra – Super Audino
Observe this sweet, empathetic creature, who uses the feelers on its auditory organs to detect how others are feeling by their pulse. Always compassionate – sometimes to a detriment – and trying to maintain the harmony, there are many Libras who would likely benefit from Mega Audino’s skills. However, to be frank, it would probably just cause them to stress even more about others.
Scorpio – Mega Banette
Banette is a Pokémon with a surprisingly sad backstory: Abandoned as a doll, it gained consciousness through pure resentment and vowed revenge on its former owner. According to the Pokédex, Mega Evolution, “increases its vindictiveness.” That seems exactly like several discussions I’ve had with my intense Scorpion friends. A Scorpion adores cosmic justice and retribution, making them the perfect match with Mega Banette.
Sagittarius – Super Hawlucha
Both Mega Hawlucha and Archers are always putting on a performance. As a Sagittarius myself, the number of occasions I’ve called myself some version of a “playful small jester” is countless. The most flamboyant and most attention-seeking Mega Evolution, its description even notes how it “poses to show off its strength.” I would do the very same thing if I had some kind of Super Form, making Super Hawlucha the most fitting Sagittarius match I can imagine.
The Goat – Mega Absol
Did you know that a Super Absol has the ability to predict calamities in advance? That gives the identical vibe as a Capricorn, who tends to always believe they’re right. Interestingly, similar to a visionary Super Absol, they frequently are. It’s also the absolute initial Super Form that trainers encounter in Legends: Z-A – typical of a Goat to join the ground floor of the Mega trend.
The Water Bearer – Super Chandelure
Aloof element Water Bearer is arguably the non-fire sign that is most like a fire sign – its sister sign is Leo, and there are numerous memes about the Archer and Water Bearer being chaotic partners in crime. Mega Chandelure’s double Spirit/Flame category matches perfectly with this, and the Super Form's overall intimidating presence is also very Aquarius. If you weren’t already persuaded, the Mega’s Pokédex entry says it “absorbs negative energy and converts it into power.” If that doesn’t perfectly {encaps
