In the dying moments, pure elation erupted for Chelsea and caretaker boss Calum McFarlane as Enzo Fernández stabbed home a dramatic equaliser. The goal left Pep Guardiola in a state of despair and handed the temporary Chelsea manager a unforgettable moment. On paper, Guardiola versus McFarlane represented the Premier League's greatest managerial mismatch, making the memory of Fernández's pivotal intervention one to warm the 40-year-old for years to come.

A Stark Contrast in Experience

On the City bench stood the generation's pre-eminent figure, a man with four decades of silverware for elite clubs Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, overseeing his 1,012th match. In the opposite technical area, stood a one-time trainer at non-league sides Croydon and Whyteleafe, who had worked in City's own academy and stepped up to make his first-team debut after being temporarily promoted from his regular role guiding Chelsea's youth teams.
