Supporters Demand Detainment of Individual Who Seized Ariana Grande
Passionate fans of the actress are urging that a person who breached a barricade and touched the celebrity during Thursday's Wicked: For Good debut be taken into custody or deported from Singapore.
A circulating footage depicts the individual from Australia bypassing media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the cast walked down a yellow carpet accompanied by fans.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo promptly guided the surprised actress away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being removed of the gathering by security officers.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram recently that he was "free after being taken in", though court documents revealed that he was due to appear on the following morning. It is not clear if he was charged.
Record of Event Invasions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Controversial Figure", has crashed a concert or event. His Instagram feed contains videos of him interrupting other star-studded functions, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in June this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers performance in the city last December.
"Steps should be implemented taken against him as this is clearly a punishable act," stated an Instagram follower, in a reply to a video Mr Wen shared of his act.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" a different Instagram user remarked.
Followers Show Disapproval Over the Star's Past Trauma
Many followers accused Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had revealed suffering from PTSD after a terrorist explosion at the finale of her spring 2017 concert in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and wounding hundreds.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" wrote a further comment on Instagram.
A number of supporters also criticised security officers at the gathering for not being sufficiently alert; while others requested digital services to block Mr Wen's uploads.
Response and Premiere Information
In clips circulating online, Grande seemed shocked when she was touched by the individual. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was escorted away by security.
Grande has remained silent on the incident, and the premiere activities continued without further issues.
Hundreds of supporters had gathered in a sea of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific premiere in a Singapore mall, including some who had stood in line for as long as a significant duration before it commenced.
The film, to be released on November 21, is the second of a two-part version of the well-known Broadway and West End musical Wicked, which focuses on the surprising relationship between two contrasting witches.
The musical itself is a adaptation of the classic story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the good witch Glinda, was decked out in a light pink glittering gown at the gathering while Erivo, who portrays the Elphaba, wore a sleek black dress decorated with roses.
They were accompanied by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the top-earning movie of the previous year in the UK, and received ten award recognitions, earning a pair for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
