Slot Insists He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Defeat

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's natural for concerns to be asked about his position after a further convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in twelve matches, representing the team's poorest run after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received plenty of backing from management,” the coach commented.

“It's important to turn it around and earn three points obviously but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He added, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me constantly of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “In the normal conversations we have I sense the confidence. However I've not talked to them since this defeat so far so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Failings and Player Response

Slot lamented familiar failings from his squad in their European loss, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones remarked.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a spell such as this with results this poor.”

Jones finished, “However we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And until that badge is taken away, we’re always going to fight.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to the top, prove again what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the best team in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
