Six Individuals Detained Following €12M Armed Raid on Precious Metals Facility in the French Republic

Six armed perpetrators carrying military-grade weapons used explosive devices to break into a gold treatment facility located in Lyon, slightly injuring five staff members during what is being called the latest high-profile broad daylight robbery to affect the nation.

The audacious robbery occurred on the afternoon of Thursday, with officers swiftly apprehending the suspected perpetrators and retrieving the loot assessed at around 12 million euros (£10.5 million), as stated by authorities.

Five workers of the gold refining company sustained minor injuries from the blast, and three of them required hospital checks for examination, according to regional authorities. Twenty-eight employees were at the location when the perpetrators raided.

The suspects, thought to be experienced criminals, were detained a brief time later in the adjacent municipality of Vénissieux, according to investigative sources.

A female participant who participated in the raid was also apprehended, a police source indicated.

“Six individuals who utilized explosives in an assault targeting a gold refining facility in the Lyon area were caught in the act,” the French interior minister declared on social media, praising officers for their “firmness, rapid response and command”.

High-caliber firearms, handguns and detonation devices were recovered as well.

The robbery occurred as French police on Thursday apprehended five additional individuals, including a primary suspect, in connection with this month's brazen raid on the Louvre museum.

Dozens of investigators have been searching for four robbers who utilized a lorry equipped with a moving lift and cutting tools to breach a first-floor gallery at the museum on the nineteenth of October, making off with precious items estimated to be worth €88M.

In another notable incident, thieves last month forced their way into the Natural History Museum in Paris, making off with gold samples valued at more than one million dollars.
