Seamer Gus Atkinson Adds to the English team's Fitness Concerns.

'Major setback' for England as Atkinson goes off due to a hamstring issue.

The English seamer added to the injury concerns plaguing England upon exiting the field on the second morning of the Boxing Day Test versus the Australians.

The pace bowler felt a problem in his left hamstring post-delivery that he bowled during the morning session.

The touring camp indicated the 27-year-old had experienced "tightness" and would spend time off the field for further assessment "in the coming hours".

The concluding match of the series beginning on 4 January gets underway at the end of the week.

The English side has already lost strike bowlers Mark Wood with a knee problem and Jofra Archer because of a side injury during this series.

Matthew Fisher was brought into the squad as injury reinforcement.

Atkinson struggled in the opening two Tests, managing only a handful of scalps.

He was left out of the third Test, before being recalled for the Melbourne Test as Archer's replacement.

Atkinson performed better in the fourth Test, claiming a couple of wickets in Australia's first innings, and scoring 28 runs with the bat among just a trio of teammates to get into double digits.

Following a brief spell at the end of day one, he resumed the next day and had nightwatchman Scott Boland caught behind.

However, at the end of that over, he sent down a change of pace to Travis Head and promptly felt at his leg.

Atkinson was brought back for the Boxing Day Test having missed the previous Test.
