Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Player the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening confirming they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the league office.

The organization did not mention the player by name in their statement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice by name, shared a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team selected in the second round.

Official Complaints Currently Not on File

No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

Rice missed the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left multiple people injured. Rice was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, he finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
