Britain Prepared to Utilize Frozen Russia's Funds to Fund the Ukrainian War Effort
The United Kingdom is ready to advance with employing the total value of seized Russian holdings to aid the Ukrainian military campaign, Leader Sir Keir Starmer has declared.
In a joint statement, the leaders of the Britain, France, and Germany emphasized that this unified step would increase strain on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and persuade Moscow to participate in talks.
They further noted that the move would be implemented in tight collaboration with the United States.
UK sanctions have blocked over £25bn of Russia's resources since Moscow began its full-scale invasion against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. Yet, up to this point, money allocated to Ukraine using Russia's funds had solely been drawn from profits and interest accrued on them.
Sir Keir told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany were aligned in their goal to push forward toward utilizing the full value of the seized Russia's state assets to conclude the conflict.
He added that more measures in the coming days and weeks would heighten the tension on the Russian government.
This declaration comes after European leaders gathered in the Danish capital previously to discuss utilizing seized Russian assets for a 140-billion-euro credit to the Ukrainian nation.
Recently, President Donald Trump urged Group of Seven partners to confiscate or utilize seized Russian funds, as reported by news outlets.
The worth of seized Russian holdings in the Europe is estimated to be nearly €211bn.

Russia executed large-scale bombardments across the Ukrainian territory on Friday, leading to electricity outages in significant regions of the capital city, Kyiv, and multiple additional areas.

In a update on social media subsequent to the strike, Zelensky commented that the strategic strike aimed at civilian and energy infrastructure.
"The necessity is not empty words but concrete steps - from the United States, EU, and the Group of Seven - in providing anti-aircraft weapons and applying sanctions," he emphasized.
