Brian Eno Urges Backing to Get Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Christmas No 1.

A charity drive is aiming to launch a Palestinian lullaby to the Christmas number one spot. The campaign seeks to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also showcasing Palestinian artistic heritage.

An Opportunity for Solidarity and an "Unlikely Coup"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a chance to show solidarity with Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be fantastic if that came to pass, yes,” he said. “I won't be completely disheartened if it doesn't manage to, festive releases are a thing unto themselves.”

Powerful Theme of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the version of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's powerful central theme.

“It occupies a deeply meaningful spot for countless listeners,” Barghouti shared. “It’s basically saying that I would rather die in dignity than spend my life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we merit as a people.”

Production History and Contributing Musicians

The single was laid down after a large-scale benefit event held in the autumn. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the piece was shelved during the concert due to time constraints.

The impressive roster of artists featured on Lullaby includes a group of acclaimed names from the scene. All were part of the earlier concert, which reportedly raised a significant sum for charitable causes.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was produced by a team of talented individuals. The track showcases a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with freshly written English words.

The group managing the project have clarified that their aim is to generate maximum funds for a charitable pot. These donations will be allocated to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an partnering humanitarian organization.

“We don’t have a rigid aim,” a representative said. “We’ll go for whatever we can get. Naturally, the higher the total, the greater the impact. Every penny goes out to the people of Gaza.”

The reality in the region was described as its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of property reportedly destroyed or damaged.

“Against that backdrop, a handful of millions is unlikely to make an enormous impact. But I think what does make a difference is first of all making this cause better known and proving there’s another side to the story.”

The track is launching this Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the solidarity show will be made accessible to view on a major video platform from later in the month.
