BF6 Battle Royale Goes Live Very Soon as a Free-to-Play Experience

Following quite some time of rumors, the battle royale game type for BF6 is at last launching. Last week's talk indicating its debut would coincide with Season 1 were spot-on. Players can dive into the action starting in just a day.

The New Season Adding a New Map, Style, and Guns

In tandem with the BR addition, the first season is also starting. It introduces a new map, a new mode, and an expanded arsenal. Additionally, the Redacted Sector is being introduced. A included preview will become available at go-live, providing players a taste of what's to come.

Free-to-Play Access Allows Battle Royale Open to Everyone

Perhaps the key news is that the battle royale mode will be F2P. Much like other games, you do not need to own the base game to play. A number of gamers have earlier tried pre-release builds of the game type. These trials were run in Battlefield Labs, which the team described as their most ambitious player partnership initiative.

The adrenaline rush during encounters with opposing teams can't be found in other last-man-standing mode. It feels life or death, and you genuinely worry if you live or perish.
Although I was a critic beforehand, I'm fully supportive of the new mode now that I've experienced it.

Such initial feedback from testers have been overwhelmingly favorable. Of course, the experience may have changed over the last few weeks in terms of game balance and tempo. However, initial indicators are strong that this new mode could be a real rival to popular games. Some are expecting that the top weapons from the main game will carry over in the new mode.
