On Monday, the court was told call records and data retrieved from phones recorded Ms Wandelt repeatedly requesting Madeleine's mother for a DNA test during the past two years.

Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 - at the age of three during a family holiday in Portugal - is considered the most covered missing child cases and remains unsolved.

'I Do Not Need Money'

One recorded message, presented in court, recorded Ms Wandelt saying: "I know I'm overweight and not pretty like Madeleine was, but I feel what I feel."

While another instance of Ms Wandelt's monologues with Mrs McCann's voicemail stated: "Suppose there is a slight possibility that I'm her? What then? Wouldn't that be significant for you?"

"I don't want money, I maintain a life here in Poland, I simply desire to understand," the recording stated.

The jury was informed that through electronic messages, SMS messages and calls, Ms Wandelt requested a genetic test, forwarded youth pictures to her phone in a effort to display a similarity to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and stated to have "recollections" from a childhood with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, an investigator with law enforcement who gathered the data, advised the court there "seemed to lack any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt furthermore contacted close associates of the McCanns, according to the phone records.

On October 9th, 2024, Mr McCann responded to a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, saying she had "the wrong phone."

That day Ms Wandelt left a message on Mrs McCann's recording saying "I will persist and I will prove my point."

The court learned the co-defendant struck up a association through digital means with Ms Wandelt prior to assisting her on a trip to the McCanns' home in that area in last December.

Communication data revealed Mrs Spragg had contacted using WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to say the news outlets had portrayed Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she deserved to be considered genuine in the months preceding the trip to the village, Leicestershire, in December 2024.

The court heard communications between the two accused, in last November, considering trying to obtain Mrs McCann's DNA samples from her garbage or from utensils at a dining venue.

"We have to take action," Mrs Spragg told Ms Wandelt.

On the evening of the visit to their home, Mrs Spragg dispatched a message which said: "We are positioned near the McCanns' house with our lights out resembling detectives. I wanted to achieve this with someone else I hadn't anticipated I would be involved in this with the McCanns."

The proceedings ongoing.
